"The low water concentrates the trout and their food" With the Cumberland River much lower than usual, trout anglers are experiencing some of the best fishing conditions in years in the upper 35 miles of the 75-mile tailwaters below Wolf Creek Dam. 'It's the lowest I've seen the river in 10 years of fishing here,' said Gregg Potter, 26, of Lexington, a part-time guide who takes fly fishermen on float trips for trout. The low water is the result of the drawdown of Lake Cumberland to elevation 680, for repairs to Wolf Creek Dam, and the lack of rainfall this spring. Read more
