<title>OUTDOORS: Cool waters produce hot</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p> "Or maybe it's just that the shad rush up there trying to get away when they sense they're about to become a meal. Anyway, the stripers attack, or 'blow up" It looked and sounded as if someone had dropped a cinder block into the water from one of the trees overhanging the Catawba River. The swirling splash appeared to be about the size of three zinc washtubs, so familiar to rural families several decades ago. 'What a 'blowup!' ' shouted David Clubb. 'That's a huge fish!' Clubb's friend and fishing buddy, Scott Atwell, agreed. In fact, Atwell alertly had removed the rod and reel from a holder on the gunnel of Clubb's boat within seconds of the splash. He waited patiently until the line tightened, then set the hook hard. Read more </p>
