One of the beauties of living in South Mississippi lies deep within the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. In terms of fishing, there's a little something for everyone regardless of the time of the year. During the winter, speckled trout and redfish dominate the scene around the barrier islands as well as near shore in places like Deer Island. Spring brings the annual cobia migration from the Florida Keys to the mouth of the Mississippi River for spawning. When summer rolls around, a mixture of fishing is available for light-tackle and heavy-tackle anglers, with trout around the islands and bull redfish schooling up on the south side of Horn and Ship islands.
